Warren Ogden, Founder and General Manager

Warren Ogden founded PURE in 2006 with the mission to: Promote and engender the physical, spiritual and emotional well-being of it’s clients, team members and the larger community of Granada.” Warren began studying both fitness and yoga 14 years ago at Duke University. Warren has been personal training and teaching yoga for the last five years. Most recently, he studied Yoga in Rishikesh and Dharmasala, India, completing Agama's intensive one-month program.

Grace Van Berkum, Natural Nutritionist, Yoga Instructor, Personal Trainer

As a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, Certified Personal trainer, and Sivananda Yoga teacher, Grace takes a well rounded approach to health and fitness and improving the quality of one's life. The healthier you are, the more energy and confidence you have, and the more successful and fulfilled your life becomes. Prior to that she worked as a Natural Nutritionist and Personal Trainer in reputable, high volume gyms in Toronto, represented Lululemon as an ambassador, and has written nutrition articles and appeared as a fitness model for various magazines. She wants to share her passion and knowledge for improving one's life, physically, emotionally, & spiritually, with people all over the world. Grace is teaming up with PURE in Nicaragua to give you a different kind of vacation to renew your health and invigorate your soul, while exploring a new, beautiful country.

Brook Skillman, Pilates and Yoga Instructor, Retreat Leader

Originally from Douglas, Wyoming, Brook was introduced at a young age to the importance of balance while practicing competitively in the gymnastics world. Though her gymnastics dreams were forced to end, Brook's passion to understand balance of the mind, body and soul grew.

After graduating from the University of Montana with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Physical Therapy and working with injured clients at Peak Performance Physical Therapy, Brook found herself starting down the path towards a more Holistic style of rehabilitation and prevention; Pilates. She decided to pursue a Pilates Certification and since receiving it, has spent the last year and a half working with high level Physical Therapy and Health Centers in New Zealand and North America. Brook has a passion to heal in the most holistic way possible to help her clients create a positive change in their body and health.

Dana Remedios, Registered Holistic Nutritionist

Dana has broad interests in wellbeing and preventative healthcare. She is a current member of the Health Action Network Society and CSNNAA, and has experience working with a variety of health clubs and gyms, as well as with chiropractors, and in her own private practice. Dana is a high energy professional recognized for her ability to identify her clients’ needs quickly and accurately, and for maintaining high quality professional relationships and customer loyalty.

Maria Isabel Rosales; Massage Therapist

Maria Isabel is a fantastic native Nicaraguan massage therapist. She has been a professional therapist for thirteen years, offering deep tissue, Swedish, and hot stone massage as well as facials and body wraps. Maria Isabel studied at the Universidad Nacional Autonomo de Nicaragua (UNAN) in Managua, and also gives nutrition consultations.

Orlando Molina; Tour guide, Retreat Logistics Manager Kick-boxing Instructor

Always full of energy, Orlando classes are fun and invigorating. His patience and good humor makes him a wonderful instructor, and he has been an integral part of the team here at Pure for the past three years. As a guide, he is knowledgeable, easy to understand, and passionate about his homeland.

April Hyatt, Martial Arts, Cardio & Latin Dance Instructor

A martial artist from the age of 12, April has studied Jiu Jitsu, Chinese Kenpo, Indonesian Silat, Boxing, Kickboxi ng and Sport Karate and was the undefeated Colorado state Jiu Jitsu (grappling) champion for three consecutive years. Three years ago she shifted her focus to Latin dance and hasn’t stopped dancing since!

At Pure, April teaches Self-Defense, various high-intensity exercise classes and Latin dance, which includes salsa, merengue, cumbia, bachata and numerous other dance styles. Contact us to set up a private or group lesson.

Joel Stromberg, Personal Trainer

Joel has been a certified personal trainer for eight years. He received his certification from the American Council on Exercise, a leading fitness certification organization in the U.S. He has trained hundreds of clients from teenagers to seniors having multiple goals including recovery from injuries, strength training and weight loss. In his training sessions he combines exercise with education about diet, technique and muscle groups so that clients are able to knowledgeably workout on their own.

Ruth Marina Vega; Massage Therapist

Ruth has been working as a massage therapist for four years and as a naturotherapist for an additional three. She studied at the Mexican National University in Managua (Nicaragua), and offers Shiatsu, Swedish, and hot stone massage in addition to acupuncture, reflexology, natural facials and nutrition consultations. Ruth’s love for nurturing people's health and wellbeing in through natural care is evident and keeps them coming back again and again!

Tania Garay; Tour Logistics & Guide

Tania, a bi-lingual Granada native, will be organizing your day tours and occasionally serving as a tour guide. Tania studied tourism administration and hotel management. As a hotel manager, she completed a series of courses in customer service and best practices in tourism.
