I arrived in Granada, Nicaragua after a 9 hour bus ride on TicaBus. Took the executive bus to Managua, then
a 45 minute cab ride down to Granada. Wanting nothing more than a nice hot shower and a serious asana class,
I found Warren Ogden's Pure... Om my god! Perfection. The place is beautiful. And as I have found out,
everything (or most everything) on the outside of businesses looks simple. But once you go inside, the world
changes immediately. The entrance to Pure is enchanting enough, but the meticulously groomed gardens are a
wonder in and of themselves. The genuinely nice people at the desk speak enough English and are indeed, very
helpful.
I immediately signed up for the 6pm yoga class and was blown away... Daniel, a 19 year old yoga teacher knew
lots... lots of Patanjai, lots of yoga psychology, lots of clam. His asana style is slow and meditative (my fav,
and I'm a yoga teacher too). Class was a bit more than an hour, and we traversed many planes of Being during
the class. And, from what I'm told, there are other equally awe-inspiring teachers as well. The studio is large
and screened in, with plenty of fans quietly circulating the air. They have mats for use by the students, but I
always bring my own (Buy a Jade natural rubber mat. Pricey, but worth it). I felt so "put back together" after
my practice, I signed up for two more classes. missed the last one due to dinner/wine at El Tercer Ojo.
(Sorry, Shiva...)
I also booked a 90 minute massage. Again, totally satisfied. Lots of focus in a medium strength deep tissue session,
my lumbar spine is radiating again. The therapist asked all the right questions before starting, and displayed a
profound sense of intuition regarding trigger points and contracted muscles. As a massage therapist of some 12 years,
I'm a fussy client, but Maria worked wonders!
